How to Calculate NEPSE Share Transaction Costs in 2025?
Trading in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) involves more than just the share price. Whether you are using TMS (Trade Management System) or MeroShare, every transaction is subject to specific government-mandated fees.
1. Broker Commission Tiers
As of 2025, SEBON has maintained a tiered commission structure. The more you trade, the lower the percentage you pay:
- Up to Rs. 50,000: 0.36% (Minimum Rs. 10)
- Rs. 50,001 to Rs. 500,000: 0.33%
- Rs. 500,001 to Rs. 2,000,000: 0.31%
- Rs. 2,000,001 to Rs. 10,000,000: 0.27%
- Above Rs. 10,000,000: 0.24%
2. Other Mandatory Charges
- SEBON Fee: A flat 0.015% of the total transaction volume is charged by the Securities Board of Nepal.
- DP Charge: Rs. 25 per company per day, regardless of the quantity.
- Capital Gains Tax (CGT): This is only applicable when you sell at a profit.
- 7.5% for individuals holding shares for less than 365 days.
- 5% for individuals holding shares for more than 365 days.
Strategy Tip: Always use the WACC (Weighted Average Cash Cost) in MeroShare before selling. Our calculator helps you estimate your “Break-even” point so you know exactly at what price you start making a profit after all taxes and commissions.
